About Me

I guess?

Oh hi, my name is Evie Pink (they/she) and let me tell you how weird it is to write an about section for the first time. Storytelling, Make Believe, Creating; through art I satisfy a lifelong want to vanish into worlds and tales where anything can happen, and everything is possible. As a disabled, audhd, and queer artist, I experience overwhelming isolation, which can be very draining to creativity. Through connection and community with others who find themselves otherwise isolated, the magic that is telling a story, and immersing in the distraction, has become a lifeline.

Over the last decade I have been in varying degrees of ability, from bedridden to part time wheelchair user. I found myself unable to participate in what I had been doing to exercise my creativity. Cosplay, Larp, Festivals and Travelling became something I found myself cosmically punished for participating in, and as pain and fatigue piled up things got very dark.

Through art I found myself being able to regain this part of myself, even if it looks different. Being self taught is challenging, creating and critiquing without a guiding hand is not an easy skill to pick up. Art has been my companion and purpose and hopefully something I can formally educate myself in eventually.

Recently I was diagnosed with EDS and POTS both, solving a life of medical mystery, and through salt all is possible apparently. With blood now in my brain, I not only can retain the stories I read, but I have found my niche through working with authors to bring their books to life.

High school me would have said their purpose was to teach music, and when I became disabled full time it was something I grieved. With a lot of time in a bed sized world, printer paper and coloured pencils helped me cope. Over time, that has evolved into highly detailed and high resolution digital paintings, though I still find a lot of joy in my illustrative roots.

Opening up to the public for commissions is a scary step towards making this hobby my career, but I look forward to the many more opportunities that come to collaborate with storytellers from all walks of life and medium.

While I am not making art (and sometimes during) I am playing video games, ttrpgs, reading, writing, swimming, watching tv, spending time with my cats (Rogue and Shadow), hanging out with the husband, or surprise napping
